Hi Anand,<div><br></div><div>I use a PVR-250 which is a USB MPEG2 encoder, I bought it 3 years ago bundled with a usb IR (receiver and transmitter) which works with very little effort with LIRC.</div><div><br></div><div>as far for the laptop, I've considered it, my main argument against it at this time is that i want my wife to be able to play music without opening the tv, thats why I was looking for a fully integrated solution.</div>

I am thinking of building a Media Center by installing XBMC or some such<br>
software on a laptop. Laptops nowadays have 300GB+ disks, HDMI, WLAN, DVDROM<br>
or BDROM drives etc.<br>

You could extend the diskspace by either networking (samba? ) or additional<br>
USB drives.<br>
<br>
A combined wireless KB+Mouse enables your TV to function as a youtube device<br>
too<br>
<br>
A laptop can be hidden easily in a TV cabinet.<br>
<br>
There are two problems I need to solve: Linux compatible USB-TV adapter, LIRC<br>
integration<br>
<br>
Any suggestions for Linux compatible USB-TV adapters? Any recommendations will<br>
be just nice for the IT show ;-)<br>
